Deictic adverbs are constructed by combining the word ann (possibly the 3rd person masculine inflected form of the preposition ann, although that is inconsistent with the related pattern in Modern Irish) with one of the demonstrative particles: seo, sin, siud.

• ann seo "here"
• ann sin "there"
• ann siud "yonder'

Tha	Màiri	ann seo
be.pres	Mary	here
Mary is here

Note that ann sin is never used as the there in Existentials (e.g. There was a man), instead ann by itself is used (Tha duine ann, there was a man (literally a man was in it))).
